Kathy Krain_edited.jpg

Kathy Krain, CIYT Level 2

Kathy began practicing Iyengar yoga in 2004 when a friend suggested she take a class to help her manage pain from a back injury. It was then that she realized the possibility of alleviating pain through the method, sequencing, and alignment of Iyengar yoga.  The side effect was a gradual and peaceful state of mind noticed after every class and the desire to understand why. The importance of sequencing, detail to the attention of body awareness, and alignment with the clarity of instruction found in Iyengar yoga and her past dance experience resonated with her desire to become a teacher. She studied at the RIMYI Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India, and continues to learn from many Senior Iyengar teachers worldwide.

Roger Richter, CIYT Level 1

Roger, raised with a holistic sensibility, yoga seemed the correct step to help overcome an injury sustained in the mid-1980s. Living in Chicago, Roger studied art and showed in local galleries. He combined his visual imagery to convey his interests in metaphysics and meditation. He began the study and practice of alignment yoga in mid-1985 with Gabriel Halpern in the Iyengar style. The combination of the external physical aspect complemented by the internal inward journey was a wondrous frontier. The practice sparked a passion for a greater understanding of body alignment and awareness. This longstanding desire to experience a deeper integration of body, mind, and spirit inspires his practice and teaching. Moving to Miami in 1990, he continued his practice and studied with Bobbi Golden and, more recently, Carrie Owerko and Patricia Walden. Roger is 200YTT certified with YogaWorks and studies with Edwin Bergman. He is registered with the Yoga Alliance.
